Château du Taillan – Cru Bourgeois

Château du Taillan – Cru Bourgeois

Château du Taillan has been a Cru Bourgeois from Haut Médoc since 1932.

The high quality of the wine starts at the beginning of the wine making process with the care of the vines. Vine maintenance, including pruning, lifting, de-budding and leaf removal are carried out throughout the year by experienced vinegrowers. The family takes special care in  the vineyard.

The red wine is issued from a blend of grape varieties typical to the Bordeaux area: Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine-making process takes place in stainless steel vats in which we control  the fermentation and ensure a strict temperature control. We also carry out daily analysis and sampling of the different wines, during the harvest.

In keeping with the tradition from Médoc, the red wine is matured in French oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, where it develops into a well balanced wine, perfect for aging.

Each vintage has its own character, and therefore creates a new challenge for the winemaker,

who endeavour to produce the finest wine possible.

2012

The colour of this wine is cherry red and intense. The nose opens on red fruits with brioche notes, vanilla and caramel hints, typical of a good ripeness year. In the mouth, the attack is soft and mellow. The evolution is open, fat, round and charming with a nice freshness. Tannins are present but smooth. Good length. Beautiful vintage. To keep 8-10 years. This vintage won a gold medal at Concours of Gilbert et Gaillard 2015 and a silver medal at Concours of Bruxelles 2015. 86/100 by Robert Parker.

2011

A young vintage to drink on the fruit or to keep in cellar. Its structure is tannic with a good acidity which gives to this wine a beautiful freshness. In mouth, there are spicy and mint notes. Its tannins are supple thanks to the ageing in oak barrels. Gold Medal at Concours of Paris 2014

2010

A great vintage, which deserves to age in the bottle for around 10 years. A very successful wine helped by exceptional September weather conditions. A nice wine, both charming and very classic from the Bordeaux area. Silver Medal at Concours of Paris 2014 Silver Medal at Concours of Bordeaux 2014 Silver Medal at Concours of Bruxelles 2014 Bronze Medal at Concours of Macon 2014

2009

This wine was awarded the Gold Award in the Brussels 2012 International Competition, and was rated 88/100 by Robert Parker. It is a wonderful vintage, as a wine with aromas of black and candied fruits with a powerful and coated structure. Appreciated by all, especially by journalists, this warm and spicy wine is a true success.
